April Favourites

The clue to this post is in the title! The products I’ve been reaching for all month!

ROSIE FOR AUTOGRAPH MAGIC RADIANCE CREAM

A dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow cream, this feel amazing on the skin and a pea size amount really goes such a long way! Skin feels hydrated, smoothed and prepped for foundation, but can also be mixed with foundation to give a more dewy look. I’ve even thought it would work beautifully on its own in the summer for a really beautiful natural glow, without any coverage. Great for dry skins who are finding their foundation is drying their skin more.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY ICONIC NUDE LIP CHEAT LIP PENCIL

The lip pencil that changed my perspective on lip pencils! I’ve be totally converted to lip pencils since I bought this. The ‘perfect nude’ for pretty much everyone, long lasting, and non drying. Looks great on its own as well as under lippy! Adding more of these to my wishlist right now!!

CHARLOTTE TILBURY BITCH PERFECT K.I.S.S.I.N.G LIPSTICK

I did a post a couple of weeks ago about my ‘nude’ lipstick collection, this is an absolute staple for me now! A great nude that isn’t too brown. Looks fab with a super smokey eye and equally chic with neutral look too! And the packaging is so luxurious, I love taking it out of my bag on a night out!

CHARLOTTE TILBURY THE DOLCE VITA EYE PALETTE

An unusual shade choice for me, but I totally fell in love with the ‘look’ on the CT counter in Birmingham. When I had my makeover done I knew I couldn’t leave without this in my possession, and I’ve not regretted it at all! I reach for it days and evenings alike and am loving the versatility of the shades! The quality of the shadows and especially the glitter are a dream to blend and never budge while worn!

LIZ EARLE CLEANSE & POLISH HOT CLOTH CLEANSER

This has made me love the ritual of cleansing. I use this as my second cleanse and massage and breathe in the beautiful aromatic scent as I’m doing it. It’s extremely gentle, even around the eyes, and I always feel squeaky clean when using the muslin cloth to remove the last traces of markup and dirt from the day.

PIXI GLOW TONIC

This has been part of my routine since Christmas and I love it. I confess I never used to tone – I was too lazy – even though I knew exactly how important it was to my skincare and how it worked, but since adding this to my routine I am religious with it!  I put it down to this that my skin feels so soft and smooth every day. The odd blemish that appears is still a bit stubborn to remove, but this is doing a great maintenance job on my skin, and with it containing glycolic acid, it’s boosting cell renewal to keep my skin younger and fresher looking for longer! A great addition to any routine at any age!

A lipstick rediscovery: MAC Vegas Volt

Well, I’ve made it to the end of the first week in my new job – hurrah!  I think this will have been the lifestyle choice I have been needing to make for a long time!

Starting a new job means I can wear whatever makeup I want every day – hurrah! – and in my first week I have rediscovered a lipstick that I’ve had for years and have totally fallen in love!

MAC VEGAS VOLT is a gorgeous springtime shade of coral orange. The formula is dreamy, so creamy and comfortable to wear and lasted a good few hours on me, even without lip liner. The swatch on my hand definitely makes it look more orange, but you can see what it was like on me in the top image.

It’s the perfect pick me up to these weird Spring days (snow??!!) we seem to be having in the UK!  I for one will be wearing a lot more of this and shall definitely shop my stash again, I’m sure there’s some real gems hiding in there somewhere!

Have a lovely weekend!

Lipsticks: The Nude Collection

If you ever took a look at my makeup collection, the one thing you would notice is how many ‘pink-nude’ lipsticks I own! I just can’t help myself!

As much as I love a bright lip now and again, I always find them hard to maintain throughout the day, so I opt for something that wouldn’t look too obvious if it started to wear off.

Having said that I have also discovered the power of lip liner in recent months, and although I always thought they were a slightly dated makeup product, I wouldn’t be without them now!

Below is my collection of ‘nudes’! If you would like a more detailed review of any of the lipsticks, just pop me a comment below and I’ll get it done!

I’d love to know what your fave lipsticks are, comment below – sharing is caring! 😁

Take 4 #5: The Red Edit

The Red Lip is something that will never go out of fashion, and is the easiest way to feel glam and ‘done’ without a huge amount of effort. Β A slick of red lippie can take a real toned down neutral eye daytime look, to a glam ‘cocktails straight from work’ evening look.

I have found that having a red lip ‘wardrobe’ never leaves you short, regardless of occasion! For a hydrating slightly glossy lip, look no further than the Revlon Colourburst Laquer Balm in Femme Fatale, easy to slick on, but requires frequent touch ups because of texture. I do find it stains very slightly but nothing a good micellar water can’t undo!

For that retro glam feel, one of the most famous reds of the moment: MAC Ruby Woo. This retro matte texture gives that long lasting perfect pout. Sometimes matte textures feel drying, but a hint of Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm underneath is hydrating enough but still keeps the lipstick matte. I always apply a red lip liner with this one, it gives a more precise application and if you fill in the entire lip first, if you get any wear you’ve still got colour underneath!

For a slightly more subtle matte finish, NARS Velvet Matt Lip Pencil in Pop Life is a great one to try. Somehow this formula feels amazingly light, almost as if there’s nothing on your lips. I usually think I need to reapply but the staying power is pretty good for such a smooth light feeling texture. It’s a slightly softer orangey red in comparison to Ruby Woo, but a great ‘day off’ hint of colour.

If you’re going for full on glamour with shine and intense pigment, you really can’t beat Rimmel Apolcalips in Big Bang. I’m still getting used to the texture of this, but the colour pay off is amazing! I sometimes worry with glossier textures that they’re going to slide around, so I’d always blot off any excess if I was going to eat or drink. I’ve found that this one give me an inner confidence just because I know it’s so eye catching!

A red lip is a statement, and there are so many ways of wearing it. It’s a case of being patient and trying a few types to see which suit you best!

what’s your favourite lip colour? Have you used any of these before?

Additions to my MAC collection

I am jetting off on my holidays in a couple of weeks, and naturally, I needed a couple of lipsticks to take with me! I also ‘needed’ a highlighter, Β (I have a perfectly good Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick!)Β so I thought I’d show you what I’ve gone for on this occasion.Β  Continue reading “Additions to my MAC collection”
