Simple Spring/Summer Smokey Eye

Spring/Summer usually signals a slight change in makeup habits. This is one of my fave looks with just a few products. An easy daytime look than can be transformed for evening in a few minutes!

Maybelline Colour Tattoo – On and On Bronze  This has been raved about in the blogging world for years, I love the shade, texture and pay off of colour. Can be very subtle or as bronze as you like. A great base for a smokey eye as it will hold onto the other shades you use and last aaalllll day!

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette – YDK & Blackout  These are the only two shadows I’ve used for this look. YDK as an all over wash of metallic colour and to soften the socket line. Blackout has been used to softly deepen the upper and lower lash lines.

MAC 217  This is the – dirty – brush pictured. I adore this! When I first started watching YouTube tutorials, this brush was used by everyone! I knew I needed it and now it’s an absolute staple in my collection. I’ve even just ordered another one!

Urban Decay Subversion & Perversion Mascara My absolute holy grail mascaras at the moment! I think I’ve repurchased 4 or 5 times now! Subversion is white and gives you length and volume as well as strengthening your lashes the more you use it. Perversion gives you the silkiest blackest lashes to perfectly frame your eyes. A perfect combo wanting a full false lash look!

I’m Back!!! | The Beauty Spot

After a massive blog hiatus (6 months!!), for no apparent reason, I’m getting back into it again.  I will be trying out a schedule and sticking to that.  I work full time and had found it hard to regularly update and keep posts coming, and thinking of new posts up to 3 times a week was getting a bit much.  I will most likely try to stick to one post a week focussing on anything from beauty, fashion, lifestyle, and everyday musings from my mind!  I was also finding I was spending a lot more money than I ever had done on products ‘for the blog’. I didn’t start blogging to feed a habit or to make myself feel better about spending money on products but I started to reassess a little.  I do want to review products and help people make decisions on whether to part with their hard earned cash on a product, but I don’t want to review something for the sake of it.

Now I’ve made the decision to get back to it, I am now sitting in my kitchen, tea and toast in hand racking my brains on what to post next!  I’m also having a little mini celebration for getting Take That tour tickets next May! Anyone else going?

How do you keep to a schedule? Do you like to keep to one or do you prefer to do things ad hoc?

Take 4 #8: Anti Ageing things you can do in your 20’s

It’s a scary thought that at 25 our skin starts to slow down and is classed as ‘mature’.  However, while many of us will not be using specific anti ageing products at this age or younger (we don’t need to!), there are certain things we can do with ease to help stave off those pesky wrinkles.

  1. DRINK MORE WATER Unsurprisingly this is something that can aid our general health, but drinking more water will keep our skin clear and full of moisture, and keep it working to its full potential. This is one thing I find hard to do as my job doesn’t allow me to drink at regular intervals, however, when I am able to drink more often I definitely feel better in myself and I know its doing all sorted of good.
  2. WEAR SPF The suns rays are some of the most damaging things for our skin.  Everyone loves a tan, but who would want to look like a wrinkly leather handbag at 40? The rays penetrate the skins layers and can create free radicals (naughty cells) which in turn damage the collagen and elastin.  These are the parts of the skins structure that gives it its youthful look (plump, smooth, line free).  They naturally break down with age, but many things speed up the ageing process, such as the sun and external pollution.  Wearing SPF gives your skin chance to protect itself from those damaging rays. This goes for winter as well as summer!
  3. MOISTURISE NECK AND HANDS We all know that our eyes ages first, mainly because the skin is much thinner, but the neck and backs of hands also show age sooner than other non-exposted areas.  When you’re young you don’t need anymore products to protect these areas, just take any excess moisturiser down onto the neck and then run over the backs of your hands with the last ‘dregs’.  Simple but effective!
  4. SLEEP Now I can’t claim I do this myself, but your skin will thank you in the future if you get a good nights sleep on a regular basis.  As we all know 8 hours is about right.  We can perform better in our day jobs, but sleep is when the skin repairs itself.  And that is sleep, not just resting.  So again if the skin repairs itself correctly while your younger it will repair more effectively and stave off ageing for longer!

I hope you’ve found those tips helpful, does anyone do things like this already?

Thanks for reading!

Spring Haul | Featuring Primark and H&M

Yes it’s time for yet another haul! What is wrong with me! Well, on this occasion I was spending vouchers that I’ve had since Christmas, so I think that’s allowed!

I’m pleased with everything I picked up, and hopefully these items will serve me well during SS14.

T shirts White tees are both from H&M, the others are distressed and boyfriend tee’s from Primark. Soft slouchy material is the way forward for me! Matched with a statement necklace makes all the difference.

Pink A line skirt // White blouse A cute outfit I thought. The skirt could also be worn with a crop top, but on me definitely needs heels as the fabric is quite voluptuous so would need heels to balance out any of us with shapely behinds!

Black Maxi Dress // Light Wash Skinnys // Silk Harem Pants The maxi is a simple capped sleeve column dress, really soft material, I will wear this when I’ve been spray tanned as it won’t rub any bits of it off. Light wash skinny jeans are to replace my trusty dark denim and black ones that I’ve lived in all winter! These pants aren’t actual silk but that’s the closest I can say to describe them. Great option for cooler summer nights with a simple black top and flip flops.

Statement necklaces x3 // Embellished head band The top item is the headband, bottom three are necklaces. The silver one is a replacement of one I broke a couple of weeks ago – massive fail – but the others I just thought will be really versatile during the upcoming months.

Hope that hasn’t gone on for two long, I sometimes feel hauls are better as a video, what do you guys think? Have you got any of these items too? I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback below! xx

The Kors Kollection

Apparently I love Michael Kors! I made my first purchase last summer just after my birthday. I had fallen in love with the Large Selma over a crowded handbag department and knew it must be mine! Since then I’ve added a few other items to the family: matching laptop sleeve (obviously!), small summer clutch bag, Runway watch (thanks Santa!) and sunglasses courtesy of duty free!

In my defence, I wasn’t specifically looking for Kors sunglasses or a Kors clutch, they just happened to be the items that grabbed me more than the competition. Now my wishlist is growing and I’d love a couple of other bags to add to my collection. Sorry not sorry…!

Comment ‘snap’ and tell me which items you have!

Happy hump day! :o)
