Simple post on what I’m wearing today. It’s my day off from work and I sometimes try to experiment with my makeup a little more as I can usually spend a bit more time on it. Its these days that I try out new products and if I do like them I will then test them on a full day at work as that gives me a good idea on longevity of a product.
I always go for comfort on a day off, if I actually leave the house I’m usually sporting my A&F Super Skinny Jeans and a slouchy H&M t shirt – I just can’t get enough of them! Today I’ve paired these with my Primark black ankle boots and my faux leather jacket and a plain black pashmina scarf.
Makeup wise I’ve kept it pretty low key on eyes with a super bold red lip. My all time favourite foundation Clarins Everlasting (review) then just a wash of MAC Paint Pot in Groundwork followed by Benefit They’re Real Mascara on the eyes; Natural Collection Blush in Pink Cloud and Rimmel Apocalips in Big Bang on the lips. It is the brightest glossiest lip product I own I think! This is its first outing so I’m looking forward to comparing it to my other lip products.
Hope you’re all having a good day!
A short post today showing the love for a most impulse of purchases; these gorgeous H&M shoe boots! I literally saw them and was like: I need those on my feet…now! For £30 I think I’ve had a real bargain!
I wore them last night for my Valentines date with black skinny jeans and a slouchy black sweater. A really simple outfit but I think the boots did the talking!
I’m not going to sit here and say they are comfy – they’re not! – but they do look great! They are higher than they looked when I bought them so definitely not a ‘walking’ ahem, boot. More of a ‘dinner and cocktails sitting down and being chauffeured home’ boot.
They will need some breaking in, as the zip section at the back slightly rubbed my ankle, but what shoes are comfy on first wear! They’re a suede-like material which looks great quality and I love the gold hard wear to just break up the black a little. I really loved wearing them and they’re a great alternative for me as I always wear court shoe type heels for evenings out, but these kind of have a casual edge while still giving me the confidence that heels do!
I’ve never bought shoes or boots from H&M so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw these hiding on a top shelf! I do think they are upping their game in the shoe department though, the store I went in seems to be extending their footwear offerings all the time! Winner!
I’m just wondering how else I could style these boots. I’m not hugely adventurous as I feel so at home with my skinny jeans and blouses or nice sweaters! If you’ve got any suggestions leave them below!
What do you think?
For some reason, Christmases and birthdays in my house always seem to end up with some sort of theme for the gift receivers. This year, my theme seemed to be makeup bags. I have gone from a small collection of gift with purchase bags, to quite a nice collection (IMO) of makeup bags for just about any occasion! Now maybe this isn’t such a coincidence as I did purchase 2 for myself, then wasn’t allowed to use one until Christmas day, and I had forgotten that I had asked family for a couple of other types of makeup bags which I also got for Christmas.
I’m not exactly a very regular traveller, but I do often need a selection of makeup during the day or to be able to do my makeup on the way to work. Don’t worry, I take the train! No penalties for applying eyeliner in my rear view mirror, thank you very much!! Added to this, everytime I go away for a night/weekend/holiday I never seem to have enough space or the right type of bag to fit what I need. So now I seem to have a collection for all eventualities, I thought I’d give you a tour of my makeup bags!
Bobbi Brown Organiser Generally for holiday use, I did a packing challenge here if you want to see how I organise my Organiser! // Bobbi Brown Makeup Bag Another great one for every day, quite flimsy but can fit quite a bit in it. Is also great to just store lip products and a powder to top up with during the day. // Anya Hindmarch makeup bag The one I treated myself to at Christmas. Love the brush section separate to your makeup. Also, a deceptively large amount of space! // ‘N’ Alphabet Bag Another Christmas gift, from my Auntie who I think sneakily saw a wishlist/tweet from me saying how much I wanted this! Perfect for day to day use. // Marks & Spencer spotty makeup bag Another gift from my Auntie. Again she knew I wanted a separate bag for my brushes when travelling and this is the perfect size! Love to neural colours too! // Cath Kidston small makeup bag This has been well used since I’ve had it a few years. I have a full collection of Cath Kidston travel and wash bags in this design, but this is another I can reach for for daily essentials.
Do you have a small army of makeup bags too? Tweet or Instagram me and show me! You know how nosey I like to be! 😀
So I haven’t done a monthly favourites since October, mainly because I feel I haven’t used some things enough to call them a ‘favourite’! But also because I always seem to buy things mid-month and then I’m not sure if I can call them a monthly favourite! But hey it’s my blog, and can write about what I like!
So this month has been about some new additions and others that have been lurking for a couple of months already.
Topshop Sweater I rarely shop in Topshop, but this totally stole my heart when I saw it. The lovely soft cashmere-esque fabric, to the gorgeous embellishment around the collar. A perfect addition to my slightly boring winter wardrobe, that’s perfect for Sunday lunch out with the fam!
Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart This made its way into my basket during my Boots Haul a couple of weeks ago and I didn’t think I’d get much wear out of it until the summer, but since I had my hair majorly lightened this has been the perfect pink for me to wear to work. Bright but not too, and beautiful texture (as we all know!).
MacBook Pro purple hard case I got this just after I got my new MacBook, but because I was sooo busy in the run up to Christmas, I didn’t christen it as much as I should. This plastic hard case is great for me as a) I don’t like the outside of my laptop looking grubby and b) I was scared to use it when I first got it for fear of scratching! This does make the MacBook heavier, so not great if you carry your around, but mine lives at home so it’s perfect!
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation I promise I will stop bleating on about his soon, but I have literally used it every day in January. I’ll save you to repeated gushing, here’s the link to my review: NARS Sheer Glow Foundation review
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Powder in Lightscapade A beautiful slightly yellow toned highlighter that I’ve been using instead of my Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick this month. It’s been the perfect alternative, just enough highlight and not glittery.
Benefit They’re Real! Mascara The first Benefit product I have every purchased! I totally gave in to blogger hype with this one and I haven’t been disappointed! The only thing that’s a little annoying is how hard it is to remove! Even my most trusty bi-phase removers don’t budge this very easily and I don’t like to scrub at my eyes too much. But, it does wonders for how your lashes look! I really like the slightly domed end of the brush to get right in to those inner and outer corners, a real winner!
Post links to your favourites posts, I love to see what other pele are loving, my Wishlist just grows every time I read them!
Afternoon all! I know I’ve already posted my Foundation Diaries intro today but I did tweet about and OOTD I was hoping to get up yesterday and just didn’t have time, so here it is!
Jeans: Ultra Soft Super Skinny from Primark // Boots: Primark // Sweater:Topshop // Watch: Michael Kors
Hope you’re all having a lovely weekend!
